Leica RC-30

Flight Operations

Aerial Camera – Leica RC-30 Serial No. 5334
The Leica RC-30 is a modern, state of the art, aerial camera. It comes equipped with Forward Motion Compensation (FMC), automatic film exposure, and electronic data film annotation. The RC-30 is supported within the aircraft on a Leica PAV30 gyro stabilized camera mount. This mount stabilizes the camera system actively and passively in relation to the angular movements of the aircraft

Camera Calibration
Our Leica RC-30 camera system is calibrated every three years in the Optical Science Laboratory of the U.S. Geological Survey, Reston , VA. The most recent calibration occurred on September 24, 2003 . Report number - OSL / 2975. The results of the camera calibration indicate the camera system exceeds USGS NAPP specifications. The AWAR of the lens is 114 lines / mm.

Flight / Camera Management Systems
The aircraft is equipped with the Tracker Aerial Photography System, by Track'Air. Tracker consists of 6 Windows applications. Each one of the programs covers one of the tasks of modern aerial survey photography: digitizing, planning, data acquisition, reporting and archiving. All the programs are automatically linked together by a common Microsoft Access relational database.

Aerial Survey Aircraft
1981 Cessna T 210 N N6258Y

This high performance, single-engine, turbo charged aircraft, is modified with an FAA approved camera port for aerial surveys. The aircraft has extended range tanks, which provide for 7.5 hours of operation at cruise speeds before refueling is needed. The aircraft is operated and maintained under Federal Aviation Regulations Part 91. In addition, extensive preventative maintenance is accomplished on the aircraft. Scheduled maintenance is completed so as not to conflict with major aerial photography projects. The result is an aircraft with high dispatch reliability, ready to complete aerial photography missions.

Airborne GPS Service

US Imaging can provide ABGPS geodetic quality data with our aerial photography. Installed on board the aircraft and integrated into the camera system is a NovAtel Millenium DL receiver. We can coordinate GPS base stations and data reduction. For projects within the state of Florida , GPS Data is reduced by a registered Florida surveyor using Fly Kin software.

Low Altitude Aerial Surveys
In addition to conventional aerial surveys we utilize a MD 500 helicopter to perform low altitude surveys or surveys in areas where the operation of an aircraft is difficult. With the helicopter we typically acquire photography at scales ranging from 1” = 30' to 1” = 150'.
